How to Get Rid of Annoying Instagram Ads

Instagram is a popular social media platform, and like all social media platforms, it has ads. While ads can be useful, they can also be annoying and disruptive to the user experience. Fortunately, there are ways to get rid of annoying Instagram ads.

  1. Hide the Ad

If you come across an ad that you find annoying, you can hide it by tapping the three dots on the top right corner of the ad and choosing “Hide Ad.” Instagram will then show you fewer ads like the one you just hid.

  1. Report the Ad

If you come across an ad that you find offensive or inappropriate, you can report it to Instagram. To report the ad, you need to tap the three dots on the top right corner of the ad and choose “Report Ad.” Instagram will then investigate the ad and determine if it violates their advertising policies.

  1. Use an Ad Blocker

Using an ad blocker is an effective way to get rid of annoying Instagram ads. Ad blockers block all ads, not just Instagram ads, and they work by preventing the ads from loading on the web page. However, keep in mind that some ad blockers may not work on the mobile version of Instagram.

  1. Unfollow Accounts

Instagram shows ads based on the accounts you follow and the types of posts you engage with. If you find yourself constantly seeing ads from an account you don’t like, you can unfollow the account. To unfollow an account, go to their profile, tap the Following button, and choose Unfollow.

  1. Adjust Your Ad Preferences

Instagram allows you to customize your ad preferences to show you ads that are more relevant to you. To adjust your ad preferences, go to your profile, tap the three lines on the top right corner, and choose Settings. From there, choose Ads, and you’ll see options for Ad Topic Preferences and Ad Activity.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
