How to Get Free eBooks

There are ways to legally obtain free eBooks whether you are an avid reader or just someone who wants to try reading eBooks without breaking the bank.

1. The Public Library

One of the most obvious and easiest ways to get free eBooks is by using your public library card. Many libraries offer eBook lending systems. You can borrow eBooks just as you would print books, but you don’t have to leave your home. You simply log in to your library catalog, browse the digital books, borrow the ones you like, and start reading. You can keep them for a certain time limit, and then they will return automatically. You can also download an app such as Overdrive or Libby to borrow eBooks from your library on your phone or tablet.

2. Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is a volunteer-created collection of more than 60,000 free eBooks. Most of the books are classics that are no longer copyrighted, which means that they’re fair game for free distribution. You can download them in various formats, such as ePub and PDF, and transfer them to your e-reader. You can also read them online or print them.

3. Free eBooks Websites

There are many websites where you can find free eBooks that are offered legally. Some websites offer curated lists of free eBooks, while others offer the latest releases. Some popular websites include:

Amazon Kindle Store

You can find a number of free eBooks on Amazon’s website. Simply go to the Kindle Store, click on “Top 100 Free,” and browse through the list.

 Smashwords

Smashwords is a platform for independent authors and publishers to sell their ebooks. The website also offers a large collection of free eBooks.

 BookBoon

BookBoon provides free non-fiction eBooks, including textbooks, business books, and travel guides.

4. BookBub

BookBub is a website that allows you to keep up-to-date with free and discounted eBooks. You can sign up for an account and select your preferred genres. Then, you’ll receive a list of eBooks that are on sale or free in your genres each day. You can also select your preferred e-reader, such as Kindle or Nook, to receive the list of eBooks that are compatible with your device.

In conclusion, getting free eBooks is easy and legal. You can borrow eBooks from the public library, use Project Gutenberg, find free eBooks on websites, and sign up for BookBub. You can read from your e-reader, computer, tablet, or smartphone without spending a dime. Happy reading!

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject.
