Windows 11 has introduced several new features and improvements for users. However, sometimes an app may freeze or stop responding, which may require you to force quit the app. In this article, we will guide you on how to force quit an app on Windows 11.

Step 1: Open Task Manager

To open Task Manager, right-click on the taskbar and select “Task Manager” from the context menu that appears. You can also use the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl+Shift+Esc” to open Task Manager.

Step 2: Locate the Frozen App

Once Task Manager is open, you will see a list of programs and processes currently running on your system. If an app is frozen or unresponsive, it will show the status as “Not responding.”

Step 3: End the Task

To force quit the app, select the frozen app and click on the “End Task” button located at the bottom right corner of the Task Manager window. Alternatively, you can right-click on the frozen app and select “End Task” from the context menu.

Step 4: Confirm the Action

A confirmation window will appear asking if you want to end the task. Click on the “End Now” button to force quit the app.

Step 5: Wait for the App to Close

After you click on the “End Now” button, Windows will attempt to close the app. The process may take a few seconds to complete, depending on the size of the app and your system’s performance.

Step 6: Restart the App

Once the app is closed, you can restart it by double-clicking on its icon or clicking on its shortcut on the desktop or Start Menu.

Conclusion

In conclusion, force quitting an app on Windows 11 is an easy and straightforward process that you can do using Task Manager. Remember that force quitting an app may cause you to lose unsaved work or data, so use it as a last resort. If an app regularly freezes or crashes on your system, it may be a sign of a more significant problem that you need to address.
