The PlayStation 5 is the latest addition to Sony’s gaming console lineup. It boasts a range of features, including a high-performance CPU, a fast SSD, and an advanced DualSense controller. However, like any other electronic device, it’s not immune to issues, including having difficulties connecting to the Wi-Fi network. This article will cover how to fix the PS5 ‘Cannot Connect to the Wi-Fi Network’ error.

Check Your Wi-Fi Connection

The first step to fixing this error is to ensure that your Wi-Fi connection is functioning correctly. You can do this by checking the number of active devices on your network, resetting your router or modem, and checking the signal strength. Ensure that your console is within range, and there are no significant obstacles between it and your Wi-Fi router. Also, verify that the Wi-Fi network’s name and password are correct.

Restart Your PS5

If your Wi-Fi connection is stable and the error persists, restarting your console may resolve the issue. You can turn off your PS5 by pressing the power button on the front of the console. If that doesn’t work, you can do a hard shutdown by pressing and holding the power button for around ten seconds until the console turns off.

Reset Your PS5’s Network Settings

Another way to fix the ‘Cannot Connect to the Wi-Fi Network’ error is by resetting your PS5’s network settings. To do this, go to Settings > Network > Settings > Wi-Fi > Forget Network. This action will reset all Wi-Fi configurations and remove any saved Wi-Fi passwords. You can then restart your console and reconnect to your network by entering the Wi-Fi network’s name and password.

Update Your PS5’s System Software

Suppose your PS5 still cannot connect to the Wi-Fi network after trying the previous solutions. In that case, it might be because your console’s system software is outdated. Sony releases regular software updates that improve console performance and address bugs, including connectivity issues.

To update your PS5’s system software, go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings. The PS5 will then check for any available updates; if there are any, download and install them.

Conclusion

The PS5 ‘Cannot Connect to the Wi-Fi Network’ error is a common issue that can occur on the console. It is fixable by following a few simple steps, including checking your Wi-Fi connection, restarting your PS5, resetting your network settings, and updating your PS5’s system software. By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue and get back to gaming.
