D3dx9_39.dll is a dynamic link library that is a vital component in running several applications and games on Windows operating system. However, at times, you may receive an error message stating ‘D3dx9_39.dll is missing’ or ‘D3dx9_39.dll not found’ while launching these applications. This error can be frustrating as it can hamper your gaming experience or workflow. But don’t worry, in this article, we will guide you through the steps to fix this error.

Method 1: Reinstall DirectX

Most often, the d3dx9_39.dll not found error occurs due to a corrupted or missing DirectX installation. Hence, the first solution is to reinstall DirectX from Microsoft’s official website. Follow these steps:

1. Visit the official Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer page.

2. Click on the Download button.

3. Run the installer and select ‘I accept the agreement’ before continuing.

4. Click on the ‘Next’ button, and the installer will proceed to download and install the latest version of DirectX.

5. Once the installation is complete, restart your PC and check if the error has been resolved.

Method 2: Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or faulty graphics drivers can cause the D3dx9_39.dll not found error. Therefore, updating the graphics drivers can fix the issue. Follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows key + X and select ‘Device Manager.’

2. Expand the ‘Display Adapters’ category and right-click on the graphics card driver.

3. Click on the ‘Update Driver’ option.

4. Select ‘Search automatically for updated driver software.’

5. Wait for the search to finish, and install the latest updates.

6. Restart your PC, and check if the problem persists.

Method 3: Run System File Checker

The system file checker utility is a built-in tool that scans and repairs corrupted system files that may be causing the D3dx9_39.dll not found issue. Follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open the ‘Run’ dialog box.

2. Type in ‘cmd’ and press ‘OK.’

3. In the command prompt, type ‘sfc /scannow’ and press ‘Enter.’

4. Wait for the scan to complete, and the tool will automatically fix any corrupted system files.

5. Restart your PC and check if the error is resolved.

Method 4: Reinstall the Application

If none of the above methods worked, it is likely that the application displaying the error is corrupted. Therefore, uninstalling and reinstalling the application can fix the problem. Follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows key + X and select ‘Apps and Features.’

2. Find the application causing the error and select ‘Uninstall.’

3. Once the application is uninstalled, restart your PC.

4. Download and install the latest version of the application from the official website or a trusted source.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the D3dx9_39.dll not found error can be a frustrating issue, but it is fixable. Follow the methods listed above, and you should be able to get rid of the error in most cases. In rare circumstances, the issue may require a more robust fix, and it is recommended to contact a professional if you are unable to resolve the problem on your own.
