How to Double Space a Word Document
If you’ve ever needed to double space a Word document, you know it’s not immediately obvious how to do it. Luckily, it’s a pretty straightforward process and I’m here to walk you through it.
Step 1: Highlight the Text You Want to Double Space
Before we can double space, we need to select the text we want to format. This can be done by clicking and dragging your cursor over the text, or by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking on individual paragraphs.
Step 2: Open the ‘Paragraph’ Dialog Box
This can be done by right-clicking on the highlighted text and selecting ‘Paragraph’ from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can go to the ‘Home’ tab and click on the ‘Paragraph’ dialog box launcher (the little arrow in the bottom right corner of the ‘Paragraph’ section).
Step 3: Select ‘Double’ from the Line Spacing drop-down menu
In the ‘Paragraph’ dialog box, look for the ‘Line Spacing’ section. Click on the drop-down menu and select ‘Double’.
Step 4: Click ‘OK’ to Apply the Changes
Once you’ve selected ‘Double’ from the Line Spacing drop-down menu, click ‘OK’ to apply the changes to your document.
And that’s it! Your document should now be double spaced. If you want to change it back to single spaced, simply go back to the ‘Paragraph’ dialog box and select ‘Single’ from the Line Spacing drop-down menu.
