How to Do Marilyn Monroe Makeup

Marilyn Monroe’s iconic makeup is a timeless, glamorous look that has captured hearts for decades. Known for her luscious red lips, captivating eyes, and glowing skin, the Hollywood starlet’s makeup style remains popular among fans and beauty enthusiasts alike. In this article, we’ll walk you through how to do Marilyn Monroe makeup, so you can channel your inner silver screen queen.

Step 1: Prep Your Skin

An essential part of Marilyn’s look is flawless, glowing skin. Begin by cleansing your face and applying a moisturizer suited for your skin type. Allow the moisturizer to absorb fully before moving to the next step.

Step 2: Apply Foundation

Choose a foundation with good coverage that matches your skin tone. Marilyn was known for her porcelain-like complexion, so make sure to select a foundation that provides an even and luminous finish. Use a makeup sponge or brush to blend the foundation evenly over your face.

Step 3: Conceal and Set

Use a concealer matching your skin tone to hide any blemishes or dark circles under your eyes. Gently tap the product onto the area with your ring finger or a small concealer brush until it blends seamlessly into your foundation. Set your base with a light dusting of translucent powder to ensure your makeup lasts all day.

Step 4: Contour and Highlight

Marilyn had defined cheekbones accentuated by soft contouring. Select a contour powder or cream slightly darker than your foundation and apply it beneath the cheekbones using an angled brush; blend well. Create subtle highlights by applying a shimmery highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, and on the cupid’s bow above the upper lip.

Step 5: The Eyes

Fill in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil or powder that closely matches their natural color. Fine, feathery strokes will give the most natural looks, emulating Marilyn’s full brows.

Next, apply a sheer layer of neutral eyeshadow across your entire eyelid. Softly blend a slightly darker shade into the crease to create depth. Marilyn famously used a white or light shimmery eyeshadow in the inner corners of her eyes and below the brow bone for extra brightness.

Complete the eyes with Marilyn’s signature winged eyeliner. Use a black liquid or gel eyeliner to draw a thin line along your upper lash line and extend it out into a flick at the outer corner. Apply several coats of volumizing mascara to complete the look.

Step 6: The Lips

Marilyn Monroe’s red lips were her most famous makeup feature. Begin by exfoliating and moisturizing your lips for a smooth application. Line your lips with a red lip liner, taking the time to draw slightly over your natural lip line for added fullness.
Choose a classic red lipstick in a satin or semi-matte finish and fill in your lips using a lip brush for precision. Apply a small amount of gloss to the center of your lower lip for Marilyn’s signature pout.

Now you’re ready to step out and shine like Marilyn Monroe! With these simple steps, you can recreate her iconic look and channel your own inner starlet, feeling confident and glamorous all day long.
