Introduction:

A half up top knot is a popular hairstyle that is both chic and effortless. It’s perfect for those days when you want to keep your hair off your face but don’t want to commit to a full updo. This simple style works for various hair lengths, from short to long, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Follow these nine easy steps to achieve a flawless half up top knot.

Step 1: Prepare your hair

Before starting any hairstyle, it’s essential to ensure that your tresses are clean and detangled. You can use dry shampoo if your roots are oily or apply a texturizing spray to add grip and hold.

Step 2: Section off the top

Gather a section of hair at the top of your head from ear to ear, parallel to your eyebrows. Use a comb or your fingers to divide this area from the rest of your hair.

Step 3: Secure the section

Use an elastic band or hair tie to secure the gathered section into a high ponytail on top of your head.

Step 4: Add volume

To make your knot look fuller, gently tug on small sections of hair around the base of the ponytail. This step creates volume and gives your hairstyle a more relaxed appearance.

Step 5: Twist the ponytail

Take hold of the base of the ponytail with one hand, and with the other hand, twist it around itself until it’s tight and starts forming a bun shape.

Step 6: Wrap it up

Wrap the twisted ponytail around its base in a clockwise direction to create a knot. Tuck in any loose ends underneath the knot so they are hidden.

Step 7: Secure the knot

Keep everything in place using bobby pins that match your hair color. Insert them into the knot from different angles to anchor it securely to your head.

Step 8: Adjust and tame flyaways

To make sure your half up top knot looks polished, pull out a few face-framing strands to soften the look. Use a bit of hairspray or gel to tame any flyaways for a smoother finish.

Step 9: Final touches

Spritz your hair with some light hairspray for extra hold, and you’re done! You’ve successfully created an effortlessly chic half up top knot in just nine steps.

Conclusion:

The half up top knot is a versatile hairstyle suitable for various occasions – from running errands to attending a glamourous event. With practice and by following these simple steps, you’ll quickly master the art of creating the perfect half up top knot.
