How to Delete Photos on a Mac
As technology continues to advance, a large number of Mac users accumulate a sizeable library of photos. Sometimes, these collections become unmanageable, overcrowding the storage space available on their Mac. When you find yourself in such a predicament, the only solution is to take the time to delete some of the less important photos from your library.
1. Open the Photos App:
The first step is to launch the Photos app on your Macbook or iMac. To do this, click on the Photos icon located in your Launchpad or Dock.
2. Select the Photos you want to delete:
Once the photos application has successfully launched, you will be able to access your entire library of images. The next step is to select the photos you want to delete. You can do this by either clicking on each picture individually or selecting them in groups.
If you are trying to delete a series of consecutive photographs, click on the first image, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, and then click on the final photo in the sequence.
3. Delete the Selected Photos:
After selecting the pictures, click on the “Delete” button located on your keyboard. A popup message will appear requesting confirmation to delete the selected images. If you click “Delete,” the selected items will be removed from your Photos library entirely.
4. Empty the Trash:
The final step is to empty your trashed items. When you delete the pictures from your Mac, it doesn’t delete them immediately. Instead, they are moved to the trash bin. To free up space on your Mac, you need to empty the trash bin.
To do this, go to “Trash” located at the bottom of your dock, right-click on it, and then click on “Empty Trash.” If you are sure that you want to delete everything in the trash, click on “Empty Trash” again.
