As a writer or a reader, a PDF file is an essential tool to keep a standard format of the written work you are dealing with. However, sometimes, many of us may come across PDF files with dark text, making it unreadable or challenging to read. If you have a PDF file with dark text, don’t worry because there are ways to fix this problem. Here’s how to darken text in PDF files and make them readable. As a bonus, here is an easy way to Convert MS Word Document to PDF.

Method 1: Adjusting Contrast in PDF Files

One of the most straightforward methods to darken the text is to adjust the contrast of the PDF file. This method is useful if you only need a slightly darker text to improve readability. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Step 2: Click on “Edit” on the menu bar, select “Preferences,” then “Accessibility.”

Step 3: Check the “Replace Document Colors” box and click “Custom Color.”

Step 4: Under the “Page Background,” choose the appropriate color contrast to make the text darker.

Step 5: From the same menu, choose “Page Content” to adjust the text color, and select the desired text color.

Step 6: Click “OK” to save changes and make the text of the PDF file darker.

Method 2: Use PDF Editing Software

Another approach to darken text in PDF files is using PDF editing software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Foxit PhantomPDF, and Nitro. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Open the PDF file in PDF editing software of your choice.

Step 2: Select the text you want to darken.

Step 3: From the color palette, choose the darker color you want to use.

Step 4: If you want to darken the entire PDF file, click “Ctrl+A” to select all the text in the document.

Step 5: Choose the darker color you want to use from the color palette.

Step 6: Once done, save the changes and close the PDF editing software.

Method 3: Use a PDF to Word Converter

if you don’t have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro or any other PDF editing software, you can also use a PDF to Word converter to create an editable version of the PDF file. Once you have a Word version, you can adjust the text color to the shade of your choice. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Use a PDF to Word converter to convert the PDF file to a .docx or .doc file.

Step 2: Open the Word document in Microsoft Word.

Step 3: Select the text you want to darken.

Step 4: Choose the darker color you want to use from the color palette.

Step 5: Once done, save the changes and convert the Word document back to a PDF file.

In conclusion, dark text in PDF files can be frustrating when it comes to reading. However, by following the methods mentioned above, you can fix the issue and make the text readable. Whether you choose to adjust the contrast of the PDF file, use PDF editing software, or a PDF to Word converter, you can darken the text of the PDF file to the level of your preference.
