How To Create An LMS Training Program For Schools

A training program will enable a school’s teachers to use a learning management system correctly. This can be a time-consuming, tiring, and costly job, making it vital that you go about creating this training program the right way.

This article will discuss 3 simple steps that you can follow when designing and creating an LMS training system for your school.

Get Your Team Together

The first step in creating a successful LMS training program for your teachers is gathering your team together. Contrary to popular belief, you will not need staff members with specialized skills and qualifications.

Instead, make sure that you are working alongside people that you trust and gel with. They should also be excited about their work, be willing to invest a lot of time into the cause, understand what an LMS is, and know what you are looking for in a training program.

Know Who You Are Creating The Training Program For

It is imperative that your LMS training program is suited to the needs and wants of the people that will be using it. There are a few easy ways in which you can do this. For example, put together a simple survey that will allow you to understand your audience’s learning needs. In this survey, you must ask the following questions:

  • What classroom technology are they used to, and have they used before?
  • What field do they teach, and what is their level of specialty?
  • How much time can be allocated to training each day?
  • What do they need to learn about learning management systems?

Plan The Content And Training

You will need to plan the content taught via the training program based on your organization’s needs and the type of learning management system your school uses.

For example, suppose your teachers have made it evident via the surveys that they struggle when using technology in the classroom. In that case, you should incorporate a crash-course on how to use the technology in your training program.

Various types of LMS’s can be implemented at your school. One new and innovative model is the social learning management system, such as Pedagogue. This app allows teachers and instructors to organize and manage their educational materials. More so, it can be used to conduct online courses via the “virtual classroom” feature. If you would like to find out more about Pedagogue, visit their website.

You will also need to decide how you are going to layout your training program lessons. For example, how many sessions is the course going to include? Which sections of work will the teachers learn in every lesson? Which teaching materials will you use to make the lessons more versatile and engaging?

Concluding Thoughts

If you want to successfully design and create an LMS training program for your teachers, you will need to follow three steps. The first thing you should do is gather a team that can help you create the program. You will then need to think about who your audience is and what their specific learning needs are. Finally, you should plan what content you will include and design the layout of your program.
