How to Cook Spaghetti Squash – The Best Method for Long Strands

Spaghetti squash is a fantastic, low-carb alternative to pasta. Here’s the best method to cook it for long, pasta-like strands:

  1. Prepare the squash:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Wash the squash and dry it thoroughly.
    • Cut the squash in half widthwise, not lengthwise. This is key for longer strands.
  2. Remove the seeds:
    • Scoop out the seeds and stringy bits with a spoon.
  3. Season:
    • Drizzle the cut sides with olive oil.
    • Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Bake:
    • Place the squash cut-side down on a baking sheet.
    • Bake for 30-40 minutes, depending on the size of your squash.
  5. Check for doneness:
    • The squash is ready when you can easily pierce the skin with a fork.
  6. Create the strands:
    • Let the squash cool for a few minutes.
    • Use a fork to gently scrape the flesh from the skin, creating long, spaghetti-like strands.
  7. Serve:
    • Toss with your favorite sauce or use as a base for other dishes.

This method ensures you get the longest possible strands, closely mimicking the texture of spaghetti.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
