1. Choose a theme or focus for your collection: To make your postcard collection unique and personal, choose a topic, theme, or specific focus. This could be based on your interests, hobbies, or simply something you find aesthetically pleasing.

2. Decide on the types of postcards to collect: Postcards come in various sizes, shapes, and materials. You can choose to collect vintage postcards, unique art postcards, or ones from a specific era.

3. Research and educate yourself: Learn about the history of postcards and their significance in different cultures. Understanding their historical context will make your collection more meaningful and interesting.

4. Set a budget: Collecting postcards can range from inexpensive to highly expensive depending on the rarity and condition of the cards. Determine how much you’re willing to spend on acquiring new additions to your collection.

5. Organize and store your collection safely: Use acid-free sleeves, albums, or storage boxes to prevent damage and fading over time. Be sure to store them away from direct sunlight or excessive humidity.

6. Visit local thrift stores and antique shops: These venues often have unique and rare postcards to be discovered at a reasonable price. Be persistent in your search—finding that perfect addition is always rewarding!

7. Explore online marketplaces and auction sites: Sites such as eBay, Etsy, or specialized postcard websites offer a wide selection of postcards for purchase from all around the world.

8. Participate in online forums and social media groups: Connecting with fellow collectors in online communities provides valuable information about rare finds, trading opportunities, and tips on preserving your collection.

9. Attend postcard shows and conventions: These events are great places not only to find potential additions to your collection but also to meet fellow enthusiasts and discuss all things related to postcard collecting.

10. Create a wish list of your most sought-after postcards: Keep track of postcards you’re looking for and prioritize hunting them down. Having a specific goal in mind can make the process of building your collection even more enjoyable.

Collecting postcards is a rewarding hobby that can lead to a unique and fascinating collection over time. Be patient, persistent, and make sure to enjoy the journey as you discover new treasures to add to your collection.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
