If you’re an avid collector of DVDs, Blu-rays, and video games, then you know how frustrating it can be to see your favorite disc not working because of dirt and smudges. Thankfully, cleaning them is a simple process that can save you the cost of buying a new one. Here are some tips on how to clean dirty DVDs, Blu-rays, and video games.

1. Use microfiber cloth

A microfiber cloth is soft and gentle on the surface of the disc, and it’s the most common cleaning material used by many people. It doesn’t scratch the surface of the disc, and it’s perfect for removing dust, smudges, and fingerprints. When you use a microfiber cloth, make sure it’s clean and dry.

2. Use alcohol-based cleaning solution

Alcohol-based cleaning solution is perfect for removing stubborn dirt and grime. It’s essential to use a solution that doesn’t contain ammonia, bleach, or abrasive chemicals because it can damage the surface of the disc. Spray the solution on a clean microfiber cloth, and gently wipe the surface of the disc.

3. Use distilled water

If you don’t have an alcohol-based cleaning solution, you can use distilled water. It’s essential to use distilled water because it has no minerals or impurities that can leave residues on the surface of the disc. Wet a microfiber cloth with distilled water, and gently wipe the surface of the disc.

4. Avoid using rough materials

Rough materials like paper towels, tissues, and even cotton can scratch the surface of the disc. It’s essential to use soft materials like microfiber cloth, chamois, or even a cotton cloth that’s specifically made for cleaning discs.

5. Handle the disc carefully

Lastly, always handle the disc carefully. Hold the disc by the edge and avoid touching the surface of the disc. Never use your fingers to wipe the surface of the disc, and avoid exposing the disc to direct sunlight or extreme heat.

In conclusion, cleaning a dirty DVD, Blu-ray, or video game is simple and straightforward. With the right materials and techniques, you can make your discs look brand new again. Always remember to handle your discs with care and avoid using abrasive materials that can damage the surface of the disc.
