How to Clean a Bidet: 10 Steps

Keeping your bidet clean is essential for maintaining good hygiene and ensuring a pleasant experience in the bathroom. In this article, we will provide you with ten simple steps to clean your bidet effectively.
1. Gather cleaning supplies:
Before starting, gather all the necessary cleaning materials, such as gloves, a cloth or sponge, mild soap, white vinegar, and a brush with soft bristles.
2. Turn off the water supply:
For safety reasons and to avoid any accidents during the cleaning process, it’s crucial to turn off the water supply to the bidet.
3. Put on your gloves:
Wear protective gloves to shield your hands from germs, bacteria, and harsh cleaning agents during the cleaning process.
4. Clean the bidet nozzle:
Take the cloth or sponge and dampen it with water. Apply a small amount of mild soap to it and gently clean the nozzle or spray wand of the bidet. Make sure not to scratch or damage it. Rinse thoroughly with water after cleaning.
5. Descale the nozzle:
If there is any buildup of limescale on the nozzle, soak a cloth in white vinegar and wrap it around the nozzle for 15 minutes. This will help break down the limescale. Afterward, gently scrub it off with an old toothbrush or soft-bristle brush.
6. Clean the basin:
Fill the bidet basin with warm water and a few drops of mild soap. Use a cloth or sponge to scrub every part of the basin, including around the drain hole, paying close attention to any hard-to-reach areas.
7. Rinse out all soap:
After cleaning all parts of the basin, rinse it off thoroughly with water until all soap residues are cleared away.
8. Disinfect and deodorize:
To kill bacteria and eliminate odors, mix one part white vinegar with two parts water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution onto the basin’s surface, nozzle, and other areas. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes before rinsing with water.
9. Wipe dry and reassemble:
Once everything is properly cleaned and disinfected, use a clean cloth to dry every surface of the bidet. Do not forget to dry the nozzle as well. Finally, reassemble any parts that were removed for cleaning.
10. Turn the water supply back on:
Once everything is cleaned and put back together, turn on the water supply to conduct a final test of the bidet to ensure proper functioning.
By following these ten steps, you will ensure your bidet remains clean, hygienic, and functional for an enjoyable experience each time you use it. Regular cleaning will help prolong the life of your bidet and keep it in optimal condition.
