Safari, the default web browser for Apple devices, is a great tool for surfing the internet. However, sometimes we need to block certain websites from being accessed, either for personal reasons or to prevent others from accessing inappropriate content. If you want to learn how to block a website on Safari, there are different methods to do it.

Method 1: Using Parental Controls

If you want to block access to certain websites for your children or other users on your Apple device, you can use the Parental Controls feature. Here’s how to set it up:

Step 1: Open System Preferences

Click on the Apple menu on the top left corner of the screen, and select “System Preferences.”

Step 2: Go to “Parental Controls”

In the “System Preferences” window, click on “Parental Controls” (marked with a yellow stop sign).

Step 3: Create a new user account

If the user account you want to apply the restriction to has already been created, skip to step 4. Otherwise, click on the “+” button to create a new user account. Name the account and set up a password for it.

Step 4: Set up website restrictions

Select the user account you want to apply the website restrictions to. Under the “Web” tab, click on “Customize…” and add the URLs of the websites you want to block. You can also block types of websites, such as gambling or adult content, by checking the appropriate boxes.

Method 2: Using Screen Time

Screen Time is a feature introduced in iOS 12 that allows you to restrict access to certain websites or apps. Here’s how to set it up on your iPhone or iPad:

Step 1: Open Settings

Tap on the “Settings” app on your device’s home screen.

Step 2: Go to “Screen Time”

Scroll down and tap on “Screen Time” (it should have an hourglass icon).

Step 3: Set up Screen Time

If you haven’t set up Screen Time before, you’ll need to do so now. Tap on “Turn On Screen Time” and follow the prompts to set it up.

Step 4: Set up website restrictions

Under “Screen Time”, tap on “Content & Privacy Restrictions.” Turn on “Content & Privacy Restrictions” and tap on “Allowed Websites.” From here, you can add the URLs of the websites you want to block by selecting “Add Website” and typing in the URL.

Method 3: Using a Third-Party App

If you want more control over website blocking, you can use a third-party app such as Freedom or FocusMe. These apps allow you to block specific websites or categories of websites, set up schedules for when websites are blocked, and more.

To use a third-party app to block websites on Safari, follow these steps:

Step 1: Choose and download a website blocker app

Go to the App Store and download a website blocker app of your choice.

Step 2: Install and configure the app

Follow the prompts to install and configure the app. Most website blocker apps will require you to grant them certain permissions in order to function properly.

Step 3: Add the websites you want to block

Open the app and add the URLs of the websites you want to block. Set up any additional settings or rules as desired.
