In today’s world, technology has reached milestones that were once a distant dream. The era of automation has brought us many fascinating gadgets, including smart thermostats. These gadgets save energy, money, and time. One such gadget is the Nest thermostat by Google.

Google is a multinational technology company that offers a wide range of products and services. In the world of smart thermostats, Google is known for its two products – the Google Nest Thermostat and the Nest Learning

Thermostat.

Both these thermostats have created quite a buzz in the market, and people can’t decide which one to buy. Therefore, in this article, we’ll discuss the differences between the Google Nest Thermostat and Nest Learning Thermostat and help you choose the best one for your home.

Design

The Google Nest Thermostat looks modern and sophisticated, with a circular design and a white dial. The device comes with a relatively larger color screen that displays the status and temperature.

In contrast, the Nest Learning Thermostat looks like a traditional circular thermostat. It has a high-resolution color screen that displays the temperature and heating and cooling mode. The device comes in four colors – copper, stainless steel, white, and black.

Features

Google Nest Thermostat is a budget-friendly device that offers basic functionalities such as temperature adjustment, scheduling, energy reports, and control via Google Assistant.

On the other hand, the Nest Learning Thermostat is an intelligent device that learns your schedule and preferences and adjusts the temperature accordingly. It comes with advanced features such as Farsight, Auto-Away, and Early-On. Farsight detects your presence and displays the temperature from across the room. Auto-Away detects when you’re away and adjusts the temperature accordingly. Early-On tries to get your home to the desired temperature at the scheduled time.

Installation

The installation process for both the Google Nest Thermostat and Nest Learning Thermostat is straightforward, and you can install them without professional assistance. You need to turn off the power supply to your HVAC system, remove your old thermostat, and mount the new Nest thermostat.

However, the Nest Learning Thermostat requires a C-wire connection, which provides continuous power to the device. If your home doesn’t have a C-wire connection, you may need the help of a professional electrician.

Compatibility

The Google Nest Thermostat and Nest Learning Thermostat both work with a wide range of HVAC systems, including gas, oil, electric, and heat pumps. They also work with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, allowing for seamless voice control.

Price

The Google Nest Thermostat is an entry-level thermostat that costs around $129.99, making it a budget-friendly option. The Nest Learning Thermostat is a premium thermostat that costs around $249.99, making it a bit expensive.
