Facebook Messenger is one of the most popular messaging apps used globally. It allows you to connect with friends, family, and colleagues by sending messages, making voice or video calls, sharing media, and using various external apps. The app is user-friendly and has many features that make communication more engaging and dynamic, including the use of icons and symbols.

Facebook Messenger icons and symbols have various meanings, and many people are still unaware of what they represent. In this article, we will discuss the most common icons and symbols used in Facebook Messenger and what they mean.

1. Blue Circle with a Check Mark

The blue circle with a checkmark means that your message was delivered successfully. It indicates that Facebook servers were able to send your message to the recipient’s servers. However, it doesn’t guarantee that the recipient has read your message.

2. Filled Blue Circle with a Check Mark

The filled blue circle with a checkmark means that your message has been read by the recipient. It is a confirmation that the recipient has opened the conversation and read your message.

3. Open Blue Circle

The open blue circle means that your message is still pending and has not been sent. It usually appears when there is an internet connection issue, and your message is not being sent to the recipient.

4. Grey Circle with a White Checkmark

The grey circle with a white checkmark means that your message has been sent, but it has not been delivered to the recipient yet. This can occur when the recipient is offline or doesn’t have an internet connection.

5. Red Triangle with an Exclamation Point

The red triangle with an exclamation point means that your message failed to send. This usually happens when your internet connection is lost or if the recipient has blocked you.

6. Green Circle with a White Checkmark

The green circle with a white checkmark means that your message has been sent and delivered to the recipient. This symbol confirms that the recipient has received your message.

7. Moon Symbol

The moon symbol appears when the recipient has enabled the Do Not Disturb feature on their device. This feature disables notifications, sounds, and vibrations, indicating that the recipient is not available to chat.

8. Phone Symbol

The phone symbol appears when someone is calling you on Messenger. You can tap the icon to answer the call or swipe it to decline the call.

9. Camera Symbol

The camera symbol appears when someone is video calling you. You can tap the icon to accept the call or swipe it to decline the call.

10. Microphone Symbol

The microphone symbol appears when you are recording an audio message to send to someone. You can stop recording by lifting your finger.
