Everything You Need to Know About iTunes Match

iTunes Match is a feature offered by Apple that lets users access their music library from any of their devices. It’s a great way to keep all your music in one place and have it accessible wherever you are. In this article, we’ll go over everything you need to know about iTunes Match.

What is iTunes Match?

iTunes Match is a subscription service that lets you store your music library on Apple’s servers. This means you can access your music from any of your iOS devices, including iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, as well as your PC or Mac.

iTunes Match works by scanning your music library and matching the songs with the ones in Apple’s massive music database. Any songs that aren’t already in Apple’s database are uploaded to your iCloud account. Once matched, you can download any of your music to any of your devices, and it will be saved locally on that device.

How does iTunes Match work?

To use iTunes Match, you’ll need to subscribe to the service. It costs $24.99 a year, and it’s available in over 100 countries. Once you’ve subscribed, you’ll need to turn on the service in iTunes on your Mac or PC. To do this:

1. Open iTunes and sign in with your Apple ID.
2. Go to the iTunes Store and click on “iTunes Match” in the left sidebar.
3. Click the “Subscribe” button and enter your payment information.
4. Once your subscription is active, go to the “Store” menu and click on “Turn on iTunes Match.”

iTunes will now begin scanning your music library and uploading any songs that aren’t already in Apple’s database. Depending on the size of your music library, this process can take a while. Once complete, you should see all of your music in the iCloud Music library.

To access your music on your iOS device, open the Music app and go to the “Library” tab. You should see all of your music listed here, regardless of whether it’s stored locally on your device or in iCloud.

What are the benefits of iTunes Match?

There are several benefits to using iTunes Match. First and foremost, it lets you access your music from any of your devices, without having to manually transfer it between them. This is especially useful for people who have a large music library that they like to listen to on different devices throughout the day.

iTunes Match also offers an excellent solution for people who have lost their music collections due to computer crashes or other issues. Because your music is stored on Apple’s servers, you can easily download it again onto a new device or after a computer crash, without having to go through the hassle of manually transferring all of your files.

Finally, iTunes Match offers high-quality audio streaming for all of your music. Apple’s servers generate 256 kbps AAC audio files, which are higher quality than the standard 128 kbps audio files that are typically found on digital music stores.

Conclusion

iTunes Match is a great way to store your music library and access it from any of your devices. The service is simple to use, and it offers several benefits over manually transfering music between devices. If you’re an avid music listener, it’s definitely worth considering.
