Everything You Need to Know About Instagram Screenshot Notifications

Instagram, a popular photo-sharing app, has added a new feature that sends notifications to users when someone takes a screenshot of their story. While this feature is helpful in some cases, many users are confused about its limitations and how it works. In this article, we will explain everything you need to know about Instagram screenshot notifications.

What is an Instagram Screenshot Notification?

Instagram has a feature that sends a notification to users when someone takes a screenshot of their story or direct message. This feature was implemented in 2018 to enhance user privacy and make people aware of their post’s reach.

How Does an Instagram Screenshot Notification Work?

Instagram sends a push notification to the user when someone takes a screenshot of the story or message. The notifications are sent to the user even if they have not followed the person who took the screenshot. However, there are some limitations to this feature.

For instance, Instagram only notifies users when someone takes a screenshot of their story, not their posts or profiles. Also, the notification only works for stories that are posted in the last 24 hours. After 24 hours, the notification gets disabled, and users can take a screenshot without getting noticed.

Limitations of Instagram Screenshot Notifications

As mentioned earlier, there are limitations to Instagram screenshot notifications. Firstly, the feature does not work with normal posts. Users can take screenshots of the posts without getting noticed. Secondly, the feature works for stories only for the first 24 hours. After 24 hours, the notification gets disabled, and users can take unlimited screenshots.

How Can I Turn Off Instagram Screenshot Notifications?

There is no direct method of turning off Instagram screenshot notifications. Users can only avoid getting noticed by not taking screenshots of other people’s posts or stories. Instagram is implementing this feature to enhance user privacy and make people aware of their post’s reach. Although it might seem intrusive, it is a helpful feature that has brought attention to user privacy on the app.
