In the age of digital learning, online courses have been gaining popularity at an unprecedented rate. With the abundance of online course providers, it can be tough to pick which one to learn from. Three of the most popular and widely used e-learning providers currently on the market are Coursera, Udemy, and LinkedIn Learning. In this article, we’ll discuss these three platforms and help guide you to choose the best one for you.

Coursera – The Online University:

Coursera is known as the online university because it partners with more than 200 well-known universities around the world. This platform offers courses in different areas such as language learning, data science, coding, business, and many more. Coursera offers a flexible learning schedule; you can start the courses any time as you wish. Coursera courses are structured as online university courses, which means they are longer and more educational than the other platforms. Students who complete a course from Coursera receive a certificate or even a degree in some cases.

Udemy – The Marketplace of Courses:

Udemy is known as the marketplace of courses as anyone can create and sell courses on it. Courses offered on Udemy are shorter and cheaper compared to Coursera. Udemy offers more than 100,000 courses on different topics, from photography to investing in cryptocurrencies. The courses on Udemy are designed to be project-based. Udemy is more practical than theoretical, which means learners can get a better interactive experience and teach themselves how to apply the skills to real-life projects.

LinkedIn Learning – The Professional Development Hub:

LinkedIn Learning is the re-branded name of Lynda.com, which was acquired by the social media giant LinkedIn. It offers courses that focus on professional development, business, and technology skills. Courses on LinkedIn Learning are typically shorter, which primarily focus on upskilling learners who are already in the workforce. The courses on LinkedIn Learning are taught by expert instructors and designed with an aim to teach learners how to effectively utilize tools and techniques to succeed in their career.

Which Platform is the Best for You?

The answer to this question depends on your personal goals and learning style. If you’re looking for structured online university courses and looking to get a certificate or degree, Coursera could be the best choice for you. If you’re looking for shorter, practical, and project-based courses, Udemy could be the right option for you. If you wish to enhance your professional skills or advance in your career, LinkedIn Learning could be the best choice.

Conclusion:

In the end, it’s great that people have access to multiple online learning platforms, which provide flexibility and an opportunity to learn new things without leaving home. Just think about what you want to achieve and what type of course suits your learning style when choosing a platform. Consider the time flexibility, content quality, instructors’ expertise, and the cost to figure out which platform suits you the best.
