If you’ve ever tried to use Bluetooth on your Mac and found that it’s not available, you’re not alone. Bluetooth connectivity issues can be frustrating, but the good news is that there are some easy fixes worth trying.

1. Restart your Mac and Bluetooth Devices

Sometimes, the solution to a Bluetooth connectivity issue is as simple as restarting your Mac and Bluetooth devices. Turn off both the Mac and Bluetooth devices, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.

2. Clear Your Mac’s Bluetooth Cache

Your Mac’s Bluetooth cache may be the cause of the issue. To clear the cache, go to the Finder menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder, type in /Library/Preferences/, and click on Go. Look for the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file and move it to the Trash. Restart your Mac and try connecting your Bluetooth devices again.

3. Reset the Bluetooth Module

If clearing the cache does not work, resetting the Bluetooth module might be the answer you’re looking for. To do this, go to the Finder menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder, type in /Library/Preferences/, and click on Go. Look for the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile files, and move them to the Trash. Restart your Mac, and the Bluetooth module should be reset to its default settings.

4. Check for Software Updates

Make sure that your Mac and Bluetooth devices are running on the latest software versions. Go to System Preferences > Software Update and check for any available updates. If there are updates available, install them and restart your computer.

5. Reset the PRAM/NVRAM

Resetting the PRAM/NVRAM can sometimes solve Bluetooth-related problems. To do this, shut down your Mac, then press and hold the Command + Option + P + R keys while turning on your Mac. Release the keys after you hear the startup sound, and let your Mac boot normally.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
