PS5 is a high-tech gaming console that provides gamers with unmatched gaming experiences. However, like any other piece of technology, it is prone to issues that may hinder its proper functioning. One of these issues is the blinking blue light and black screen that PS5 users may experience. If you’re facing this issue, don’t worry – this article will guide you on how to fix it.
The blinking blue light and black screen on your PS5 occur when your console is unable to start up properly. This issue may occur due to a variety of reasons, like hardware or software malfunctions, power supply issues, or even outdated firmware. Fortunately, there are a few solutions you can try to fix this issue.

1. Check Your Connections

The first thing you should do when facing the blinking blue light and black screen issue is to check your connections. Ensure that your PS5 is properly plugged in and that all the cables are firmly connected. If you’re using an HDMI cable to connect your PS5 to the TV, ensure that the cable is properly plugged in and functional.

2. Check the Power Supply

If your PS5 is properly connected, the next thing to check is the power supply. Ensure that the power outlet you’re using is functional, and the cable is not damaged. If you’re using a power strip or surge protector, unplug everything and plug it back in. Sometimes, the power strip may not be providing enough power to your console, causing it to malfunction.

3. Boot in Safe Mode

Booting your PS5 in safe mode can help resolve some software-related issues that may be causing the blinking blue light and black screen issue. To boot your PS5 in safe mode, follow these steps:
a. Turn off your PS5.
b. Press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps.
c. Connect your PS5 controller to a USB cable and press the PS button.
d. You’ll see the safe mode menu, where you can try various options to fix your PS5.
e. Start by selecting option 6: “Update System Software.” Ensure that your PS5 is connected to the internet, and the latest firmware update will be installed.

4. Perform a Factory Reset

If booting your PS5 in safe mode doesn’t resolve the issue, performing a factory reset may help. However, this will erase all your saved data, so ensure that you have a backup of your files. Here’s how to perform a factory reset:
a. Turn off your PS5.
b. Press and hold the power button and wait for the second beep.
c. Release the power button and wait for your PS5 to boot in safe mode.
d. Select option 7: “Initialize PS5.”
e. Follow the prompts to complete the factory reset process.
