Hvammstangi, a small town situated in the northwest of Iceland, may be off the beaten path but offers visitors a taste of authentic Icelandic culture and natural beauty that should not be missed. If you find yourself in Hvammstangi for a day, here are some of the best things you can do:

1.Visit the Icelandic Seal Center –Start your day at this informative center to learn about seals and their role in Icelandic nature and folklore. The center also provides detailed information on the best nearby locations for seal watching.

2.Explore Kolugljúfur Canyon –A little drive out of town will lead you to this stunning canyon named after the troll Kola. It is famed for its scenic waterfalls, particularly the impressive Kolufossar falls thundering into the gorge below.

3.Relax in Hvammstangi’s Thermal Pool –After sightseeing, soak in Hvammstangi’s local geothermal pool. It’s a fantastic place to relax and maybe even engage with locals.

4.Stroll around the Village –Hvammstangi is charming and has a picturesque setting by the Miðfjörður fjord. Enjoy a leisurely walk throughout this peaceful village and admire its quaint houses and coastline.

5.Look for Northern Lights or Midnight Sun –Depending on what time of year you visit, embark on a late-night expedition to witness either the magical dance of the northern lights or the surreal glow of the midnight sun.

6.Try Local Cuisine –Conclude your day with delightful Icelandic dishes at one of Hvammstangi’s local restaurants or bistros. Sample fresh seafood that is likely caught in surrounding waters, making it an authentic culinary experience.

In a single day, Hvammstangi offers visitors a slice of Iceland’s natural wonders and cultural charms combined with relaxation and culinary delights. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy these unique experiences while you’re there.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
