Travel enthusiasts, buckle up as Frommer’s, the trusted name in travel guides, has just released its much-anticipated list of Best Places to Go in 2024. Globetrotters are in for a treat with an array of destinations ranging from time-honored wonders to hidden gems that are now ripe for discovery. This year’s selection is a tapestry of culture, adventure, and relaxation to suit every traveler’s palate.

Topping the list is the breathtaking city of Kyoto, Japan. Famous for its well-preserved temples, sublime gardens, and traditional teahouses, Kyoto is a living museum where visitors can immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Japanese history and culture. The city also boasts modern attractions and is renowned for its culinary scene, offering an eclectic mix of traditional Kaiseki meals and innovative fusion cuisine.

Next on the list is Botswana’s Okavango Delta – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. This wildlife haven promises extraordinary game viewing opportunities, especially with its commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism practices. Travelers can glide through waterways on mokoros (traditional dugout canoes) or soar above the wetlands in a hot air balloon.

For those seeking an urban adventure combined with historical charm, Frommer’s recommends Krakow, Poland. With its captivating medieval core and Jewish quarter, Krakow is a city seeped in history but vibrantly alive with contemporary arts and a youthful energy. Don’t miss the Wieliczka Salt Mine and the poignant Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial just a short trip away.

Lovers of tropical paradises should not overlook Raja Ampat, Indonesia. This archipelago boasts some of the planet’s richest marine biodiversity making it a pinnacle destination for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. Landscapes here are postcard-perfect with lush jungles tumbling into turquoise seas dotted with craggy limestone islets.

Lastly, Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada offer a blend of rugged beauty and welcoming East Coast culture. The province features stunning landscapes from the Gros Morne National Park fjords to Labrador’s remote coastal villages. Those interested in marine life will be thrilled by seasonal whale watching and iceberg sightings.

Frommer’s list provides further enticements including culinary tours in Italy’s Puglia region, wellness retreats in Bali, adventures through New Zealand’s South Island, and cultural experiences in Seville, Spain.

With this curated roster from Frommer’s Best Places to Go in 2024, it seems there has never been a more exciting time to pack your bags and set out for new horizons. Whether you’re into solo travel or looking for family-friendly destinations, this guide will help you plan an unforgettable year filled with exploration and discovery.
