Meetings are an integral part of business operations, essential for planning, decision-making, and tracking progress. To ensure meetings are productive, it’s beneficial to have a structured approach to recording discussions, decisions, and action items. Microsoft OneNote, with its customizable note-taking features, offers an array of templates designed to optimize meeting efficiency. Here are some of the best OneNote templates tailored for various meeting types:

1. Basic Meeting Notes Template – This template provides a simple structure that includes sections for the agenda, attendees, action items, and key takeaways. It is perfect for general staff meetings or team check-ins.

2. Project Meeting Template – Tailored for project-focused meetings, this template has sections devoted to project status updates, milestones, risk assessments, and next steps. It’s ideal for project managers and teams who need to keep track of detailed project progress.

3. Formal Meeting Minutes Template – Designed for formal or board meetings where detailed documentation is necessary. This template typically includes call to order time, roll call, formal motions, voting outcomes, and official adjournment alongside standard items.

4. One-on-One Meeting Template – Intended for personal catch-up sessions between managers and employees. Sections might include personal growth discussions, feedback sharing, performance assessments, and goal setting.

5. Brainstorming Session Template – Equipped with areas for unrestricted idea dumping, category sorting, priority setting, and action planning. This template is essential for creative sessions where the generation of new ideas is critical.

6. Workshop Planning Template – Includes distinct sections for workshop goals, detailed schedules or session plans, required materials/equipment lists, and space for participant feedback to help organize effective workshops or training sessions.

7. Conference Call Template – Since virtual meetings are the norm in many organizations today, a conference call template with areas designated for participant names (including virtual attendance), talking points memo area, and technical issue logs can be immensely useful.

8. Client Meeting Template – Specifically created with client interactions in mind; this includes client details at the top followed by discussions on project updates or pitches with space allocated for feedback and agreed-upon deadlines or deliverables.

9. SWOT Analysis Meeting Template – Strategic meetings often involve SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses Opportunities Threats). This template has predesignated blocks that facilitate easy entry into each SWOT category followed by strategy development notes.

10. Decision-Making Meeting Template – For meetings whose core purpose is decision making; it offers sections outlining options under consideration with pros/cons listed as well as results from collaborative decision-making processes.

Having a dedicated OneNote template can drastically improve the effectiveness of meeting minutes or notes by ensuring all crucial information is captured succinctly and clearly before the participants disperse. These best templates should cover most types of meetings an organization may conduct on their path to success.
