Augmented reality has been around for a while now, but it’s still one of the most exciting and innovative technologies available today. Used in everything from gaming to education to shopping, augmented reality apps are transforming the way we interact with the world around us. If you’re an Android user, there are plenty of great augmented reality apps to choose from. Here are some of the best:

1. Pokémon GO – This game took the world by storm when it was released in 2016. Using augmented reality technology, players can catch and collect Pokémon in the real world, using their smartphone’s camera to see the creatures overlaid onto their surroundings.

2. Google Lens – Google Lens is like having a visual search engine built into your camera app. You can point your phone at almost anything – a book, a flower, a menu – and Google Lens will provide information about it, such as reviews, prices, and more.

3. IKEA Place – This app lets you try out IKEA furniture in your home before you buy it. Simply use your phone’s camera to see how a piece of furniture would look in your room, then use the app to order it online.

4. Inkhunter – If you’re thinking about getting a tattoo, Inkhunter can help you try out different designs before you commit. The app uses augmented reality to show you what a tattoo would look like on your skin.

5. Snapchat – If you’re not already addicted to Snapchat’s filters and lenses, you should be. These fun and often hilarious effects use augmented reality to overlay animated objects onto your face in real-time.

6. Quiver – Quiver is an educational app that uses augmented reality to bring coloring pages to life. Kids can color in the pages with traditional markers or crayons, then use the app to see their creations come to life in 3D.

7. WallaMe – This app lets you leave hidden messages in the real world for your friends to find. Using augmented reality, you can leave messages or images that are only visible when someone else uses the app to look at the same location.

8. Giphy World – Giphy World lets you add gifs to the real world, making for some hilarious and playful photos and videos.

9. Holo – Holo helps to add 3D characters to your surroundings. You can choose from hundreds of 3D characters and place them in your environment making your videos creative.

10. AR Ruler App – This App is helpful when you want to measure things and you don’t have a ruler. With the camera of your phone, you can easily get accurate measurements.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
