There’s nothing quite like the taste of fall, and what better way to celebrate the season than by baking some delicious apple cookies? Filled with warm spices, sweet apples, and a touch of nuttiness, these cookies will have you reaching for seconds (or thirds). Follow our simple recipe to learn how to make the best apple cookies in town.

Ingredients:

– 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

– 1 large egg

– 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

– 1 cup peeled and grated apples (about 2 medium-sized apples)

– 3/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Set aside.

3. In a separate large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer or a wooden spoon to cream together the softened butter and light brown sugar. Mix until the mixture is light and fluffy.

4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat well until fully combined.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients while mixing slowly – be sure not to overmix at this stage! Continue mixing until just combined.

6. Fold in the grated apples and chopped walnuts (if using) using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon. Mix gently until evenly distributed.

7. Drop the cookie dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they are lightly golden around the edges and set in the center. Note that the cookies will still be a bit soft when you remove them from the oven but will firm up as they cool.

9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Serve these scrumptious apple cookies with a steaming mug of hot apple cider or tea, and enjoy the delightful flavors of fall. With their perfect balance of sweetness, spice, and fruity goodness, these apple cookies are sure to become one of your go-to recipes when autumn comes around!
