Introduction

Tilapia is a versatile fish that is often a crowd-pleaser, thanks to its mild, tender texture and delightful flavor. As a popular choice for many home cooks and professional chefs alike, this type of fish allows you to explore numerous approaches when it comes to cooking. One of the best ways to enjoy this scrumptious delight is by pan-frying it; so here’s an easy-to-follow recipe for the best pan-fried tilapia.

Ingredients

– 4 tilapia fillets (around 4-6 ounces each)

– Salt and pepper to taste

– 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 lemon, zest and juice

– Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the tilapia fillets

Take the tilapia fillets and gently pat them dry with paper towels. This will help remove any excess moisture ensuring a better crust when pan-fried. Season the tilapia fillets evenly with salt and pepper on both sides.

Step 2: Dredge in flour

Place the all-purpose flour on a plate or shallow dish. Gently press each tilapia fillet into the flour, covering both sides evenly. Shake off any excess flour and set aside.

Step 3: Heat the butter and oil

In a large non-stick skillet or frying pan, heat butter and olive oil over medium-high heat. Allow the butter to melt fully before adding in your minced garlic. Cook for about a minute until fragrant.

Step 4: Fry the tilapia

Place the floured tilapia fillets into the skillet with garlic. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan; if needed, cook in batches. Fry each side of the tilapia for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Check that the internal temperature of the fish is at least 145°F (63°C) using a meat thermometer.

Step 5: Flavor with lemon and parsley

After turning off the heat, add in your lemon zest and juice to the pan. Gently mix the juice with the butter and olive oil, allowing it to coat the tilapia fillets. If desired, you can add some chopped fresh parsley to garnish your fish.

Step 6: Serve hot

Transfer the pan-fried tilapia fillets onto a serving platter or individual plates. Spoon any leftover pan sauce over each fillet. Enjoy this delicious pan-fried tilapia recipe with your favorite side dishes such as steamed vegetables, rice, or a light salad.

Conclusion

With its perfect combination of savory flavors, crunchiness, and tenderness, this best pan-fried tilapia recipe is sure to be a hit among your family and friends. Its simplicity and versatility make it an ideal dish for any occasion, whether it’s a weeknight dinner or a casual get-together. Say goodbye to boring fish recipes and try this delicious pan-fried tilapia today!
