Emoji have become an integral part of our daily communication. These small, colorful icons have revolutionized the way we express ourselves in text messages, social media, and other forms of digital communication. Here are some amazing facts you probably didn’t know about emoji:

.Emoji were invented in Japan in the late 1990s by a man named Shigetaka Kurita. He created a set of 176 pixelated icons to be used on a mobile internet platform.

.The word “emoji” comes from the Japanese words “e” (picture) and “moji” (character).

.The first set of emoji included symbols for weather, traffic, technology, and emotions.

.In 2015, Oxford Dictionaries named the “face with tears of joy” emoji as the word of the year.

.The Unicode Consortium, a non-profit organization, is responsible for standardizing and approving new emoji. They release new sets of emoji every year.

.There are currently over 3,300 approved emoji. This includes variations of skin tones, gender, and hairstyles.

.The most commonly used emoji on Twitter is the “face with tears of joy” emoji.

.Apple was the first company to include emoji in its iOS software in 2011.

.The “pile of poo” emoji is officially called “pile of poo” and not “chocolate ice cream” or “soft serve ice cream” as some people believe.

.In 2017, the world’s first emoji movie, aptly named “The Emoji Movie,” was released. It was widely panned by critics but still managed to gross over $200 million worldwide.

In conclusion, emoji have come a long way since their inception in the late 1990s. They have become a universal language that transcends barriers of culture and language. With new sets of emoji being released every year, it’s clear that these small icons will continue to play a significant role in our digital communication for years to come.
