A Fixed Mindset: Everything You Need to Know

Have you ever been uninspired because you believe you are incapable of doing something? In these instances, we believe that failure is unavoidable, and we almost always fail as a result of our attitude toward the work at hand.

We’ve all been in this mindset at some point in our lives. When it comes to our lack of success, we frequently blame it on our fear of failure.

In this post, we’ll look at what the word “fixed mindset” means. More specifically, we will discuss a few real-life situations and how you may change your thinking.

What Exactly Is A Fixed Mindset?

A fixed mindset believes that information and skills are fixed. In other words, they believe that you either have or do not have what it takes to excel at a given activity. They do not believe in development or progress; they believe that no matter how hard you try at anything unless you are inherently skilled, you will not achieve success.

A Real-Life Example of a Fixed Mindset

Nokia was formerly one of the most well-known phone companies in the world. They declined to upgrade their operating system in 2011, even though the current version was far more successful.

It is assumed that they did not want to change because Samsung was using a more modern operating system. In the end, Nokia suffered a severe setback, and Samsung surpassed them as the world’s largest phone brand.

Nokia had a fixed attitude in this case when they refused to upgrade and enhance their goods. Their narrow thinking was ultimately to blame for their demise.

How to Overcome a Stuck Mindset?

Fortunately, there are a few methods for changing a stuck mindset:

  • Change your point of view. Rather than sticking to what you know, don’t be scared to go out and learn fresh insights.
  • Make a point of learning from your mistakes and viewing them as stepping stones to achievement.
  • When it comes to altering your thinking, be patient. Furthermore, make an effort to think about your choices and consider what you would like to alter.

Finally, consider the following:

A fixed mindset believes that one’s abilities and intelligence are generally fixed. These people do not believe in development or progress; they have a closed mentality and feel that you either have or do not have what it takes. You must be patient and learn from your failures if you want to shift a stuck attitude. More importantly, you must try new things and broaden your horizons.
