Safari is a widely used web browser across the world for its user-friendly interface and fast browsing capabilities. However, at times, the browser may start behaving abnormally or may not respond to certain actions. It may also slow down or start crashing. In situations like these, it is best to reset Safari to its default settings. Doing so will not only fix the issues but also eliminate any unnecessary extensions and saved passwords. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to reset Safari to default settings.

Step 1: Launch Safari and click on the “Safari” tab present in the top menu.

Step 2: Click on the “Preferences” option from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: In the Preferences window, click on the “Privacy” tab.

Step 4: Click on the “Manage Website Data” option.

Step 5: In the “Manage Website Data” window, click on the “Remove All” option.

Step 6: Once you have removed all the website data, click on the “Advanced” tab present in the Preferences window.

Step 7: Click on the “Show Develop menu in menu bar” option.

Step 8: Exit the Preferences window.

Step 9: Now click on the “Develop” tab present in the top menu.

Step 10: Select the “Empty Caches” option from the drop-down menu.

Step 11: Exit Safari and then relaunch it.

Step 12: Once you have relaunched Safari, click on the “Safari” tab in the top menu again.

Step 13: This time, select “Reset Safari” from the drop-down menu.

Step 14: Check all the boxes present in the Reset Safari window, including Clear history, Remove all webpage preview images, Remove all website data, Remove all cookies, and Remove all website icons.

Step 15: Once you have checked all the boxes, click on the “Reset” button.

Step 16: Wait for the process to complete, and then relaunch Safari.

In conclusion, resetting Safari to its default settings helps users resolve various browser-related issues. By following the above-mentioned steps, you can easily reset Safari to its default settings. Remember, resetting Safari will also delete all saved passwords and extensions. However, it is a small price to pay for a faster and smoother browsing experience.
