MS Teams is a popular video conferencing tool used by many businesses to conduct meetings and collaborate with colleagues from remote locations. With the increased use of video conferencing, people have started to focus on the quality of their video meetings. Blurring the background in MS Teams can help improve the video quality by eliminating distractions from the background. This article will guide you on how to blur backgrounds in MS Teams.

  1. Start an MS Teams video call

The first step is to start an MS Teams video call. You can do so by selecting the video icon in the designated chat or channel.

  1. Click on the “More Actions” button

Once the video call has started, click on the “More Actions” button, which you can find at the bottom of the screen. The “More Actions” button will open a list of options.

  1. Choose “Blur my background”

From the list of options, choose “Blur my background” to enable the blur effect. Once you select this option, your background will be blurred.

  1. Turn off your video

If you want to turn off your video during the meeting, your background will remain blurred. To turn off your video, click on the camera icon at the bottom of the screen and choose “Turn off camera.”

  1. Remove the blurred background effect

If you want to remove the blurred background effect, click on the “More Actions” button and choose the “Original” option. This will restore the original background.

  1. Update MS Teams

If you don’t see the “Blur my background” option, make sure your MS Teams app is up to date. You can do so by going to the Microsoft Store and checking for updates.

Tips for successful background blurring

– Use a plain background: Blurring works best when there isn’t much detail in the background. A plain wall or a single-colored backdrop will work perfectly.

– Lighting matters: The quality of the lighting in the room can affect how well the background blurring works. Make sure you have good light in the room.

– Close all the other programs: Programs running in the background can also interfere with the background blur effect in MS Teams. Close all unnecessary programs before starting your call.

Conclusion

Blurring your background in MS Teams is a great way to eliminate distracting elements from your video call. It is easy to enable and disable the effect, and it does not require any additional software or hardware. By following the tips mentioned above, you can achieve an even better background blur effect and have a more professional and focused video meeting.
