Apple’s Handoff is a feature that allows users to seamlessly switch between their Apple devices for a more integrated experience. It is available on Apple devices running iOS 8 or later and OS X Yosemite or later.

Handoff enables users to start a task on their iPhone or iPad and switch to their Mac to continue the same task. This means that the user can pick up right where they left off on another device without any interruption or delay. It is particularly useful for those who move between their devices regularly and want to avoid disruption to their workflow.

The Handoff feature is activated when the user is signed into iCloud on all their devices using the same Apple ID. The user must also ensure that Bluetooth is turned on and both devices are within range of each other.

To use Handoff, the user can simply open an app on their iPhone or iPad and then swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the App Switcher. Then, they can tap on the app they want to continue on their Mac. A Handoff icon will appear on the Dock of their Mac, allowing the user to pick up where they left off.

Users can also start a task on their Mac and continue on their iPhone or iPad. For example, a user can start writing an email on their Mac and then continue composing it on their iPhone while on the go.

Handoff also works with some third-party apps, such as Microsoft Office, Safari, and Evernote, to name a few. Users can see which apps support Handoff by going to System Preferences on their Mac and selecting General, then ensuring that the checkbox for “Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices” is selected.

In addition to Handoff, Apple also offers other continuity features that allow for a more integrated experience between their devices. These include Universal Clipboard, which allows users to copy and paste between their devices, and AirDrop, which allows for easy file transfers between devices.

Overall, Apple’s Handoff is a valuable feature for those who frequently switch between their devices and want to maintain a seamless workflow. With its ease of use and ability to work with a variety of apps, Handoff is a valuable addition to the Apple ecosystem.
