The Steam Deck is a powerful handheld gaming device that provides gamers with the freedom to take their favorite games with them wherever they go. However, one of the biggest concerns users have is the limited storage space on the device. Fortunately, there are ways to add extra storage to the Steam Deck, allowing for more games and content to be stored on the device. Here’s how to add extra storage to the Steam Deck:

Use a microSD card: The Steam Deck has a microSD slot which can be used to store games and other content. Simply insert a microSD card into the slot and the Steam Deck will recognize it automatically. The microSD card can be used to store games, saves, and other types of digital content. Ensure that the microSD card is of high quality and has high-speed read/write capabilities to ensure smooth gameplay.

Use a USB-C external drive: If you require more storage space than what is provided by the microSD slot, an external USB-C drive can also be used. Simply connect the drive to the USB-C port of the Steam Deck and it will be recognized as an external storage device. This offers a more convenient way to store games and large files such as videos.

Stream games from a home PC: Another option to consider is using the Steam Remote Play feature that allows you to stream games from a home PC to the Steam Deck. This way, you can keep the games on your PC while still being able to play them on the Steam Deck. Although this option requires a stable internet connection to ensure smooth gameplay, it can prove to be an effective way of accessing games that take large storage space.

In conclusion, adding extra storage to the Steam Deck is a simple and effective way to increase the number of games and content that you can store on the device. Whether it’s a microSD card, an external USB-C drive or streaming games from a home PC, these options offer different levels of convenience and flexibility to the user. So just choose what suits your needs and enjoy your gaming experience on the powerful Steam Deck!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
