Windows 11 has brought many new features, and one of the most useful features is the Hibernate option that allows users to save their work and shut down the computer without losing unsaved work. It’s an incredibly useful option that can save you a lot of time and effort. However, some users might want to disable the Hibernate option to free up some disk space and improve their system’s performance. In this article, we’ll guide you on how to enable and disable the Hibernate option in Windows 11.

What is the Hibernate option in Windows 11?

Hibernate is a power-saving mode that saves the current state of your computer to the hard drive and shuts down the system. When you turn on the computer, it restores the saved state and resumes the work from the point where you left off. This feature is incredibly useful for users who want to save their work and shut down their computers quickly without losing any unsaved work.

How to Enable Hibernate in Windows 11?

By default, the Hibernate option is disabled in Windows 11, and you need to manually enable it to use this feature. Here’s how you can enable the Hibernate option in Windows 11:

Step 1: Click on the Windows button in the taskbar.

Step 2: Click on the Settings icon.

Step 3: From the left pane, select the System option.

Step 4: Click on the Power & sleep option.

Step 5: In the Related settings section, click on the Additional power settings option.

Step 6: Click on the Choose what the power buttons do option.

Step 7: Click on the Change settings that are currently unavailable option.

Step 8: Under the Shutdown settings section, check the Hibernate option.

Step 9: Click on the Save changes button.

That’s it. Now the Hibernate option will appear in the Power menu when you click on the Windows button.

How to Disable Hibernate in Windows 11?

If you want to disable the Hibernate option in Windows 11, you can follow the below steps:

Step 1: Click on the Windows button in the taskbar.

Step 2: Click on the Settings icon.

Step 3: From the left pane, select the System option.

Step 4: Click on the Power & sleep option.

Step 5: In the Related settings section, click on the Additional power settings option.

Step 6: Click on the Choose what the power buttons do option.

Step 7: Click on the Change settings that are currently unavailable option.

Step 8: Under the Shutdown settings section, uncheck the Hibernate option.

Step 9: Click on the Save changes button.

That’s it. The Hibernate option will not appear in the Power menu when you click on the Windows button.

Conclusion:

Hibernation is an excellent power-saving feature in Windows 11 that allows users to save their work and shut down their computers without losing any unsaved work. However, some users might want to disable the Hibernate option to free up some disk space and improve their system’s performance. We have provided a guide that will help you enable or disable the Hibernate option in Windows 11.
