Google Photos is a popular cloud storage service that offers unlimited storage for your photos and videos. While the automatic backup feature is a convenient way to ensure all your media is stored safely in the cloud, there may be times when you want to disable it. Whether you’re trying to conserve data usage or just don’t want certain photos to be backed up, here’s a simple guide on how to stop automatic backup to Google Photos.

Disable Google Photos Syncing on Android

If you want to stop automatic backup for photos and videos on your Android device, you can disable syncing in Google Photos settings. Follow the steps below to turn off automatic backup:

1. Open the Google Photos app on your Android device.

2. Tap on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner of the screen.

3. Choose “Photos settings” from the drop-down menu.

4. Select “Back up & sync.”

5. Toggle off “Back up & sync” to disable automatic backup.

Disable Google Photos Syncing on iOS

3. Choose “Settings” from the drop-down menu.

4. Select “Back up & sync.”

5. Toggle off “Back up & sync” to disable automatic backup.

Disable Backup for Specific Folders

If you prefer to keep automatic backup enabled but want to exclude certain folders or albums, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Open the Google Photos app and go to “Settings.”

2. Choose “Back up & sync.”

3. Enable “Back up & sync” if it’s not already on.

4. Click on “Back up device folders.”

5. Select the folder or album you want to exclude from automatic backup.

6. Toggle off “Back up & sync.”

By following these steps, you can control what folders and albums are automatically backed up to Google Photos. This feature is particularly useful for those who may have sensitive or personal photos they don’t want to be uploaded to the cloud automatically.

Conclusion

While automatic backup is a handy feature, there may be times when you need to disable it. Whether you want to conserve data usage or exclude certain folders from being automatically backed up, the steps above will guide you through the process. With these simple steps, you can customize your Google Photos backup settings to your liking and ensure your media is stored safely and securely in the cloud.
