Google Chrome has been the go-to web browser for countless people around the world. However, as with any software, it can encounter issues from time to time. One of the most common problems that users face is Google Chrome not completing downloads. This issue can be frustrating, especially if you’re trying to get work done or are in a deadline.

Fortunately, there are several ways to fix this problem. In this article, we’ll cover some of the best ways to solve downloads issues on Google Chrome.

1. Clear the Browser Cache and Cookies

The first step to take when Google Chrome is not completing downloads is to clear the browser cache and cookies. The cache and cookies store data that can sometimes interfere with downloads.

To clear the cache and cookies, follow these steps:

1. Open Google Chrome.

2. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen and select Settings.

3. Scroll down and click Advanced.

4. Under Privacy and Security, click Clear browsing data.

5. Select the Time range and check the boxes for Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.

6. Click Clear data.

2. Check your Antivirus Settings

Some antivirus software can interfere with downloads, causing Google Chrome not to complete downloads. If you suspect that this is the problem, you may need to adjust your antivirus settings.

Open your antivirus settings and check if any settings are preventing downloads from completing.

3. Disable browser extensions
Extensions can also cause Google Chrome not to complete downloads. Disable all extensions and try to download your file again. If it works, you may need to enable your extensions one by one to identify which one is causing the problem.

To disable extensions, follow these steps:

1. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen and select More tools.

2. Select Extensions.

3. Click the toggle next to each extension to disable it.

4. Restart Google Chrome and try to download the file again.

4. Update Google Chrome

An outdated version of Google Chrome can cause downloads to fail. Ensure you have the latest version of Google Chrome installed on your computer.

To update Google Chrome, follow these steps:

1. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen and select Settings.

2. Scroll down and click About Chrome.

3. Google Chrome will automatically check and install updates. If an update is available, click Update.

5. Try to download the file from a different website

Sometimes, downloading the same file from another website can solve the problem. Try to download the file from a different website, preferably a trusted source.

Conclusion

In conclusion, getting Google Chrome not to complete downloads can be a frustrating problem. However, by following the steps outlined above, you can fix this issue and continue to use Google Chrome without any disruptions. Remember to keep your browser updated, clear cache and cookies regularly, disable browser extensions, and check your antivirus settings to ensure that your Google Chrome download issues are resolved.
