Maintaining good eye health is critical for ensuring overall well-being and can prevent future vision problems. Here are ten simple yet effective hacks to naturally boost your eye health today:

1. Follow the 20-20-20 rule: Give your eyes a break from screens every 20 minutes by looking at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

2. Invest in proper lighting: Use adequate but comfortable lighting when reading or working to avoid straining your eyes.

3. Wear UV-protective sunglasses: Protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays can help prevent cataracts and other eye diseases.

4. Eat eye-friendly foods: Include foods rich in vitamins C and E, zinc, lutein, and omega-3 fatty acids in your diet, which are vital for good eye health.

5. Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can prevent dry eyes and maintain healthy functioning of the body including the eyes.

6. Quit smoking: Smoking can increase the risk of cataracts, optic nerve damage, and macular degeneration.

7. Use anti-glare screens: If working on a computer or tablet, use anti-glare screens to reduce the high-energy visible light that can affect your retina and lead to macular degeneration.

8. Exercise regularly: Regular physical activity improves blood circulation, which improves oxygen levels to the eyes and the removal of toxins.

9. Practice good hygiene: Avoid touching your eyes with dirty hands to prevent infections, and always make sure your contact lenses are clean and used as directed.

10. Get regular eye exams: Early detection of any eye issues is crucial; therefore, regular check-ups with an optometrist or ophthalmologist are important in maintaining eye health.

Incorporating these simple practices into your daily routine can have a significant positive impact on your eye health. Remember that consistency is key – make these hacks a part of your lifestyle to enjoy better vision for years to come.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
