Introduction:

There is nothing quite as satisfying as sneaking a spoonful of cookie dough before it goes into the oven. But, raw dough contains raw eggs and flour, which are not safe to eat. Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered with the best edible cookie dough recipe that is delicious and safe to eat.

Ingredients:

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar

– 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 2 tablespoons milk or cream

– 1 cup chocolate chips or your preferred mix-in (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Heat-treat the flour.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Spread the all-purpose flour on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the flour reaches 165°F (74°C). This will kill any potential bacteria in the raw flour. Allow the flour to cool before using it in the recipe.

Step 2: Cream together butter and sugars.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Use either a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed until light and fluffy, about two minutes.

Step 3: Add vanilla extract and milk.

Add the vanilla extract and milk or cream to your creamed butter mixture. Mix on low speed until everything is well combined.

Step 4: Incorporate heat-treated flour.

Slowly add your cooled, heat-treated flour to your wet ingredient mixture. Mix on low speed until just incorporated.

Step 5: Fold in mix-ins.

If using, add your choice of mix-ins like chocolate chips, candies, or nuts to the dough. Use a wooden spoon or rubber spatula to gently fold them into the dough.

Step 6: Refrigerate or consume immediately.

You can now enjoy your edible cookie dough right away or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. You can also freeze the cookie dough for up to three months if you want to save it for later.

Conclusion:

This edible cookie dough recipe is a safe and scrumptious treat for all cookie dough lovers. Feel free to experiment with different mix-ins and flavors to make it your own. Happy snacking!
