Hulu has built-in accessibility features to make their content more inclusive for users with visual or hearing impairments. One of these features is the audio description option, which provides a separate audio track that narrates visual details such as actions, scene changes, and facial expressions that are not spoken by the characters. In this article, we will explain how to enable or disable audio descriptions on Hulu.

Enabling Audio Descriptions on Hulu

Step 1: Open the Hulu App

First, open the Hulu app on your smart TV, set-top box, or mobile device.

Step 2: Find a Title with Audio Descriptions

Hulu has a growing list of movies and TV shows that support audio descriptions. To find a title with audio descriptions, look for the AD icon on the title’s thumbnail or select the Audio Descriptions filter in the Browse section.

Step 3: Start Playing the Title

Once you have found a title with audio descriptions, select it and start playing.

Step 4: Turn On Audio Descriptions

During playback, press the Options button on your remote or tap on the screen to open the playback menu. Next, select Audio & Subtitles and scroll down to find the Audio Descriptions option. Finally, select the On option to enable audio descriptions.

Disabling Audio Descriptions on Hulu

Step 1: Open the Hulu App

First, open the Hulu app on your smart TV, set-top box, or mobile device.

Step 2: Find the Title with Audio Descriptions

To disable audio descriptions, find the title you are currently watching with audio descriptions enabled.

Step 3: Turn Off Audio Descriptions

During playback, press the Options button on your remote or tap on the screen to open the playback menu. Next, select Audio & Subtitles and scroll down to find the Audio Descriptions option. Finally, select the Off option to disable audio descriptions.

Conclusion

Enabling or disabling audio descriptions on Hulu is a straightforward process that can make a big difference in the accessibility of their content. By following the steps outlined in this article, users with visual impairments can enjoy an immersive viewing experience that includes all the details of the scenes and characters. We hope this guide helps you get the most out of Hulu’s audio description feature.
