GIFs are a fun and creative way to show highlights of a video. You might have come across funny memes or cool branded GIFs on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. With Shortcuts on your iPhone, you can create GIFs from your videos without using any third-party application. In this article, we will provide you with a comprehensive guide on how to make a GIF from your iPhone videos using shortcuts.

Step 1 – Get the Shortcuts App

The first step to creating a GIF from your iPhone videos is to download and install the Shortcuts App on your iPhone. This App comes preinstalled on iPhone models with iOS 14 and later. If you don’t have the app, you can download it from the App Store.

Step 2 – Create a New Shortcut

After launching the app, you’ll see the “Gallery” page where you can explore different shortcuts. To create a GIF shortcut, tap the “+” sign icon at the top right corner of the Gallery page. This action opens the “New Shortcut” page.

Step 3 – Record a Video

Next, you’ll need to record a video that you want to transform into a GIF. If you have an existing video that you want to turn into a GIF, you can skip this step and move to step 4. However, if you’re creating a new video, you can use the iPhone’s camera app to capture a clip. Ensure that your camera app is set to the maximum resolution you want the GIF to have.

Step 4 – Add Action to Shortcut

After recording your video, you’ll need to add an action that will transform the clip into a GIF. To do this, click the “+” sign button in the new shortcut page. This action opens the “Add Action” page. In the search bar, type “encode to GIF” to find the appropriate action. Once you’ve found it, click the action to add it to your shortcut.

Step 5 – Customize GIF Settings

After adding the “encode to GIF” action, you need to customize the GIF settings to choose the output format and adjust the size of the GIF. You can choose the output format as Medium or Large, depending on the size of the GIF you need. You can also adjust the size of the GIF by setting the maximum dimensions. Ensure that you choose dimensions that don’t make the GIF too big or too small for your intended purpose.

Step 6 – Preview and Save Your GIF

After customizing the GIF settings, click the play icon to preview your GIF to ensure that everything is okay. If you’re satisfied with the output, give your shortcut a name and click the “Done” button to save it.

Step 7 – Create Your GIF

Now that you have created the shortcut for your GIF, it’s time to execute it. To create your GIF using the shortcut, open your iPhone’s gallery, find the video you want to transform, and click the “Share” button. In the share menu, you’ll see the “Shortcuts” option. Click this option to view all of your shortcuts, and choose the shortcut you created.

In conclusion, creating a GIF from your iPhone videos is now easy thanks to the Shortcuts App. Shortcuts allows you to create amazing GIFs with just a few steps. With this guide, you can create your GIFs and share them with your friends on social media.
