The Nintendo DS, released in 2004, exploded onto the gaming scene and took the world by storm. With its two screens, one of which was touch-sensitive, the console offered gamers a unique and innovative gaming experience that had never been seen before. The console went on to sell over 150 million units worldwide, making it one of the most successful gaming consoles of all time. Naturally, this success led to some truly iconic games being released on the console, and in this article, we’ll be taking a look at the most popular Nintendo DS games of all time.

  1. Mario Kart DS

It’s no surprise that Mario Kart DS is one of the most popular Nintendo DS games of all time, given the success of the Mario Kart franchise in general. The DS version of the game was groundbreaking for its time, being the first time that players could race against each other online. With a huge variety of tracks and characters to choose from, Mario Kart DS was and remains one of the most entertaining and addictive racing games out there.

  1. New Super Mario Bros

Another classic franchise from Nintendo, New Super Mario Bros was a much-welcomed addition to the DS library. The game featured the classic side-scrolling gameplay that made the original Mario games so iconic, but with updated graphics and new power-ups to discover. With over 80 levels to play through, it’s no surprise that New Super Mario Bros became a fan favorite.

  1. Animal Crossing: Wild World

Animal Crossing: Wild World was another excellent addition to the DS library, providing gamers with a unique and charming game that allowed them to live out a virtual life in a quirky world filled with cute animal characters. The game was a smash hit, with players spending countless hours exploring the game’s world, collecting furniture, and making friends.

  1. Tetris DS

Tetris is one of the all-time classic video games, and the DS version of the game, Tetris DS, was a masterful reimagining of the franchise for a new era. The game offered several different gameplay modes, including a multiplayer mode that allowed players to compete against each other online. With its simple yet addictive gameplay, it’s no wonder that Tetris DS was such a hit.

  1. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl

No list of popular Nintendo DS games would be complete without mentioning the Pokémon franchise. The DS version of the game, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, was a fan favorite thanks to its expansive world, its vast collection of new Pokémon to catch, and its improved graphics. The game was a commercial and critical success, and it remains one of the best entries in the franchise to this day.
