How to Link Your Nintendo Account to Your 3DS & Wii U Before the eShops Close

Nintendo has announced that it will be shutting down the eShops for 3DS and Wii U consoles later this year. This means that players will no longer be able to purchase or download new games and content for their consoles. However, there is still time for players to link their Nintendo Accounts to their 3DS and Wii U consoles before the eShops close. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Sign in to your Nintendo Account

Before you can link your Nintendo Account to your 3DS and Wii U consoles, you need to have a Nintendo Account to sign in with. If you don’t have one, you can create one on the Nintendo website.

Step 2: Link your Nintendo Account to your 3DS

To link your Nintendo Account to your 3DS, follow these steps:

1. Turn on your 3DS and go to the home menu.

2. Open the System Settings app.

3. Scroll down and select Nintendo Network ID Settings.

4. Select Link Nintendo Network ID.

5. Enter your Nintendo Network ID and password when prompted.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to link your Nintendo Account.

Step 3: Link your Nintendo Account to your Wii U

To link your Nintendo Account to your Wii U, follow these steps:

1. Turn on your Wii U and go to the home menu.

2. Open the System Settings app.

3. Select Nintendo Network ID Settings.

4. Select Link Nintendo Network ID.

5. Enter your Nintendo Network ID and password when prompted.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to link your Nintendo Account.

Why Link Your Nintendo Account?

Linking your Nintendo Account to your 3DS and Wii U consoles before the eShops close is important because it will allow you to transfer any remaining funds from your eShop account to your Nintendo Account. This way, you can still use your funds to purchase games and content on other Nintendo platforms, such as the Nintendo Switch.

In addition, linking your Nintendo Account will also allow you to access your digital purchases on other consoles with the same Nintendo Account. For example, if you purchase a game on your 3DS, you can also download and play it on your Wii U or Nintendo Switch with the same Nintendo Account.
