Evernote vs. OneNote vs. Google Keep: Which Note-Taking App is Right for You?

Note-taking apps have become an essential tool for many people, whether it’s for work, school, or personal use. With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to decide which one to use. In this article, we will compare three popular note-taking apps: Evernote, OneNote, and Google Keep.

Evernote

Evernote has been around since 2008 and has established itself as one of the most popular note-taking apps. It has a wide range of features, including the ability to create notebooks, add tags, and attach files. One of the standout features of Evernote is its powerful search function, which can even search for text within images.

Another useful feature of Evernote is its web clipper, which allows you to save articles, web pages, and other content directly to your Evernote account. Evernote also offers apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, so you can access your notes from anywhere.

However, Evernote’s popularity comes at a price. The free version of Evernote only allows you to sync your notes between two devices, and you are limited to 60 MB of new uploads per month. To unlock more features, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan.

OneNote

OneNote is Microsoft’s note-taking app and comes pre-installed on many Windows devices. Like Evernote, it allows you to create notebooks and add tags to your notes. OneNote also has a powerful search function and the ability to add audio and video recordings.

One of the standout features of OneNote is its integration with other Microsoft Office apps, such as Word and Excel. You can easily embed tables and spreadsheets into your notes and even annotate them.

OneNote is free to use, and there are no upload limits. However, the app can be a bit overwhelming for new users, and the interface can be cluttered.

Google Keep

Google Keep is a relatively new player in the note-taking app market, but it has quickly gained popularity. It has a clean, simple interface and allows you to create notes, lists, and reminders. You can also add images and audio recordings to your notes.

One of the standout features of Google Keep is its integration with other Google apps, such as Google Docs and Google Calendar. You can easily add notes to your calendar or create a new document from a note.

Google Keep is free to use and has no upload limits. However, it lacks some of the advanced features of Evernote and OneNote, such as the ability to create notebooks and add tags.

Conclusion

In conclusion, choosing the right note-taking app depends on your needs and preferences. If you need a powerful app with advanced features and don’t mind paying for it, Evernote may be the right choice for you. If you are a Microsoft Office user and want an app that integrates well with other Office apps, OneNote may be the best option. Finally, if you prefer a simple, easy-to-use app that integrates with other Google apps, Google Keep may be the way to go.
