4 Ways to Make a Frozen Bagel Taste Freshly Baked

Spread the love

A warm, freshly baked bagel can be one of the most scrumptious breakfast items. However, it’s not always possible to get your hands on a fresh bagel daily. Fear not bagel lovers; there are ways to transform your store-bought, frozen bagels into delicious treats that taste like they just came out of the oven. In this article, we will explore four ways to make a frozen bagel taste freshly baked.

1. Toast and Butter

The easiest and quickest method to convert a frozen bagel into a warm delight is simply by toasting it. Pop the frozen bagel into the toaster or toaster oven and set it to medium-high heat. Toasting not only warms up the interior of the bagel but also allows it to crisp up, giving you a delightful texture. Once it’s toasted, spread your choice of butter or cream cheese to add extra richness and flavor.

2. Steam and Bake

Adding steam while baking a frozen bagel can mimic the conditions of a freshly baked product. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and boil a pot of water on the stove. While waiting for these appliances to heat up, slice your bagels in half and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Once the water comes to a rolling boil, pour it carefully into an oven-proof dish and place it at the bottom of the preheated oven—this creates steam in the oven environment. Bake the sliced bagels for 10-15 minutes until they become soft and chewy.

3. Revive with an Air Fryer

Air fryers have become increasingly popular due to their versatility, and you can use these handy appliances for more than just frying food. To give your frozen bagel new life, preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C). Slice the bagel in half and place it in the air fryer with the cut side facing up. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until it turns golden brown and crunchy on the outside, while being soft and warm inside.

4. Rehydrate with a Microwave

For a quicker alternative, try this simple microwave trick. First, slice your frozen bagel in half and wrap each half with a damp paper towel before placing it on a microwave-safe plate. Heat for 30 seconds to one minute, keeping a close eye on your microwave to ensure you hit that sweet spot where your bagel is moist and warm without becoming overly soggy.

In conclusion, there’s no need to settle for cold, frozen bagels when you easily make them taste like they’re fresh from an authentic bakery using these four methods. So next time you have frozen bagels on hand, grab your toaster, oven, air fryer, or microwave and turn your run-of-the-mill bagel into an enjoyable morning treat!
