Introduction

Marijuana butter, also known as cannabutter, is a popular and versatile ingredient in the world of cannabis edibles. This infusion allows you to transform any recipe into a potent, cannabis-infused delight. With cannabutter, you can create a diverse range of sweet and savory dishes to suit your individual taste and preferences. In this article, we will explore three ways to prepare marijuana butter so that you can master the art of cannabis cooking.

1. Stovetop Method: Classic Cannabis Cooking

Ingredients:

– 1 ounce of finely ground marijuana (decarboxylated)

– 1 pound of unsalted butter

– 4 cups of water

Instructions:

1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.

2. Once melted, add the water and decarboxylated marijuana to the saucepan.

3. Simmer on low heat for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally. The mixture should not boil.

4. Using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the mixture into a glass container, separating the liquid from solid plant material.

5. Refrigerate until solidified (about 2 hours). The cannabutter will separate from the water and form a solid layer on top.

6. Remove the cannabutter layer and store it in an airtight container.

2. Slow Cooker Method: Low-and-Slow Infusion

Ingredients:

– 1 ounce of finely ground marijuana (decarboxylated)

– 1 pound of unsalted butter

– 4 cups of water

Instructions:

1. Add all ingredients into a slow cooker.

2. Set the slow cooker to low heat and let it cook for 8-10 hours, stirring occasionally.

3. When finished cooking, strain the mixture using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, separating the liquid from solid plant material.

4. Transfer the strained liquid to a glass container and refrigerate until solidified (about 2 hours).

5. Remove the cannabutter layer and store it in an airtight container.

3. Double Boiler Method: Precise Temperature Control

Ingredients:

– 1 ounce of finely ground marijuana (decarboxylated)

– 1 pound of unsalted butter

– water

Instructions:

1. Fill the bottom half of a double boiler with water and set it on low heat.

2. Melt butter in the top half of the double boiler.

3. Add decarboxylated marijuana to melted butter.

4. Stirring occasionally, allow the mixture to simmer for 3-4 hours, making sure it doesn’t boil.

5. Strain the mixture using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, separating the liquid from solid plant material.

6. Transfer strained liquid into a glass container and refrigerate until solidified (about 2 hours).

7. Remove the cannabutter layer and store in an airtight container.

Conclusion

Now that you’re equipped with three methods for preparing marijuana butter, you can start experimenting with cannabis-infused recipes to your heart’s content! From sweet treats like cookies and brownies to savory dishes like pasta and soups, there are countless ways you can incorporate this powerful ingredient into your culinary repertoire. Enjoy, and remember to always consume responsibly!
