Introduction

There are few dishes as comforting and classic as spaghetti with homemade sauce. Making your own spaghetti sauce allows you to customize the flavor, control the ingredients, and create an unforgettable meal. In this article, we will explore three different ways to make homemade spaghetti sauce: a simple tomato sauce, a rich and creamy tomato-cream sauce, and a hearty meat sauce.

1. Simple Tomato Sauce

Ingredients:

– 2 tbsp olive oil

– 1 onion, finely chopped

– 2 garlic cloves, minced

– 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

– 1 tsp sugar

– Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

– Handful of fresh basil leaves, finely chopped

Instructions:

1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

2. Add the onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the garlic and cook for another 1 minute.

4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and sugar. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Simmer for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Add the fresh basil just before serving.

2. Tomato-Cream Sauce

Ingredients:

– 2 tbsp olive oil

– 1 onion, finely chopped

– 2 garlic cloves, minced

– 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

Instructions:

1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

2. Add the onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the garlic and cook for another 1 minute.

4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Mix in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

6. Season with salt and pepper, and garnish with fresh basil before serving.

3. Hearty Meat Sauce

Ingredients:

– 2 tbsp olive oil

– 1 onion, finely chopped

– 2 garlic cloves, minced

– ½ lb ground beef

– ½ lb ground pork

– 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

– 1 tsp salt

– Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

– Handful of fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions:

1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

2. Add the onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the garlic and cook for another 1 minute.

4. Stir in the ground beef and pork, cooking until browned and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes.

5. Mix in the crushed tomatoes, salt, and black pepper.

6. Simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Conclusion

Preparing homemade spaghetti sauce can be a simple yet satisfying experience when you have the right ingredients and a good recipe to follow.
