Introduction:

Thanksgiving is a time for family, food, and fun! One of the most cherished traditions is creating Thanksgiving crafts to decorate your home. Footprint and handprint turkeys are an excellent way to add a personal touch to your holiday decor while creating lasting memories with your loved ones. Below, we’ll explore three different methods to make these adorable handprint and footprint turkeys.

1. Paper Plate Footprint Turkeys

Supplies Needed:

– Paper plates

– Paint (brown, red, orange, yellow)

– Paintbrushes

– Black marker

– Scissors

– Glue

– Construction paper (orange and red)

Instructions:

1. Start by painting the bottom side of your paper plate brown.

2. Press your child’s foot or hand onto the painted side of the plate while it’s still wet.

3. Allow the paint to dry completely.

4. Cut out feathers from construction paper in red, orange, and yellow colors.

5. Glue the feathers around the backside of the plate, radiating outward from the center.

6. Use a black marker to draw eyes on the footprint or handprint and add an orange beak and red wattle using construction paper.

2. Canvas Handprint and Footprint Turkeys

Supplies Needed:

– Canvas (any size you prefer)

– Acrylic paint (brown, red, orange, yellow)

– Paintbrushes

– Black marker

Instructions:

1. Paint your child’s hand or foot brown.

2. Press it onto the canvas firmly and carefully lift it off.

3. Allow the print to dry completely.

4. Use different colored paints to create feathers around the print by either painting them directly onto the canvas or dipping your child’s fingers in paint before pressing them around the turkey body.

5. Once everything is dry, use a black marker to add eyes, an orange beak, and a red wattle.

4. Handprint and Footprint Turkey Cards

Supplies Needed:

– Cardstock or construction paper (any color)

– Paint (brown, red, orange, yellow)

– Paintbrushes

– Black marker

Instructions:

1. Fold cardstock or construction paper in half to create a card.

2. Paint your child’s hand or foot brown.

3. Press it onto the front of the folded card and carefully lift it off.

4. Allow the print to dry completely.

5. Use different colored paints to create feathers around the turkey body by either painting them directly onto the card or dipping your child’s fingers in paint before pressing them around the turkey body.

6. Once everything is dry, use a black marker to add eyes, an orange beak, and a red wattle.

Conclusion:

These three footprint and handprint turkey projects are perfect for creating lasting memories with your children while also adding a festive touch to your Thanksgiving decor. So gather your supplies and start crafting! Happy Thanksgiving!
