3 Ways to Have Good Hygiene Near Puberty (for Girls)

Puberty is a significant period in every girl’s life, characterized by numerous physical and emotional changes. As the body undergoes these transformations, maintaining good hygiene becomes essential to stay healthy and feel confident.

Here are three ways for girls to ensure they maintain proper hygiene near puberty:

1. Maintain a Consistent Personal Care Routine

As the body starts producing more sweat and oil during puberty, it’s necessary to adopt a regular personal care routine. Showering daily with mild soap and warm water helps in keeping the skin clean and preventing the buildup of bacteria. Washing your face twice a day using a gentle cleanser also helps in keeping acne at bay.
Don’t forget about dental hygiene as well! Brush your teeth twice a day and use dental floss to avoid bad breath or gum infections.

2. Use Proper Feminine Hygiene Products

During puberty, girls begin menstruating, which requires additional personal care. It’s essential to change sanitary pads or tampons frequently to prevent infections or leaks. Choose products that are comfortable and suitable for your specific needs; this may take some experimentation before finding the right fit.

Additionally, practice proper wiping techniques by wiping from front to back after using the toilet, reducing the risk of urinary tract infections.

3. Choose Breathable Clothing

Wearing clean, breathable clothes is essential for maintaining good hygiene during puberty. Tight clothing can trap moisture and cause irritation or infections in sensitive areas of the body. Opt for natural fabrics like cotton that allow air circulation and help absorb sweat effectively.

Changing clothes after engaging in physical activities ensures that any trapped sweat does not become an ideal environment for bacteria growth.

In conclusion, maintaining good personal hygiene is crucial for girls approaching puberty. By developing consistent routines, choosing appropriate feminine hygiene products, and wearing breathable clothing, you can navigate this phase with confidence and feel comfortable in your changing body. Remember that discussing any concerns with a trusted adult or healthcare professional can provide additional guidance and answers to your questions during this essential time of growth.
